Fuel tax cut savings calculator
Calculate your monthly and yearly savings from the current fuel-tax cut. Extended to Sep 30.
When the cut ends on Sep 30, your monthly cost rises by ₩6,100 again.
Estimate of the tax-cut portion only. Actual pump prices vary by oil markets and station.

This calculator takes your monthly fuel volume and shows how much less tax you pay each month and each year under Korea's current temporary fuel-tax cut. It counts ₩122 per liter for gasoline and ₩145 per liter for diesel. It is not a pump-price predictor — it isolates the tax-cut portion as a reference estimate.
How much does the fuel tax cut save me each month?
Your monthly volume multiplied by the per-liter cut. Gasoline is currently cut by about ₩122 per liter and diesel by about ₩145 per liter, so filling 50 liters a month means ₩6,100 less for gasoline and ₩7,250 less for diesel. Annualized, that comes to ₩73,200 and ₩87,000 respectively. The calculator lets you pick the fuel type (gasoline or diesel) and enter a volume from 0 to 2,000 liters, with 50 liters as the default. Results appear on two lines: the monthly saving and the yearly figure, which is simply twelve times the monthly one.
What are the current cut rates and when does the cut end?
Gasoline is cut 15% and diesel 25%, and the measure runs through September 30, 2026. Those rates come from the emergency economic review meeting of March 26, 2026, which widened the cut from 7% to 15% for gasoline and from 10% to 25% for diesel, effective March 27. The measure was then extended to July 31 at the 9th ministerial task force meeting on living costs on May 21, 2026, and extended again to the end of September at the 13th meeting of the same task force on July 24, 2026. The calculator shows a countdown to September 30, 2026 at the top.
How much will my monthly cost rise when the cut ends?
By the same amount you are saving now. At 50 liters a month that is ₩6,100 for gasoline and ₩7,250 for diesel. Below the result the calculator prints a matching line: "When the cut ends on Sep 30, your monthly cost rises by ₩X again." That figure only restores the tax portion, though — the actual cost of filling up at that point depends on oil markets and on individual stations. Whether the end date changes again has to be confirmed through government announcements.
What data does this calculator use, and where does my input go?
The cut rates and per-liter amounts come from Korea's Policy Briefing (MOFE) announcement on extending the fuel-tax cut, as of May 21, 2026. The end date of September 30, 2026 reflects the announcement from the 13th ministerial task force meeting on living costs held on July 24, 2026. The volume you type is calculated entirely inside your browser; it is never sent to a server or stored. No login is required, and you never enter personal details such as a name or plate number. The source link at the bottom of the page opens the May 21, 2026 announcement of the cut rates; the September extension is sourced on the July 24, 2026 timeline entry.
Frequently asked questions
Why do gasoline and diesel save different amounts?
Because different cut rates apply to them. Gasoline is cut 15%, worth ₩122 per liter, and diesel is cut 25%, worth ₩145 per liter. Switching the fuel type in the calculator changes the per-liter amount, and the result changes with it.
Is the result the same as what I actually save at the pump?
Not the same, no. The calculator computes only the fuel-tax cut portion. Actual pump prices vary with oil markets and from station to station, so the figure shown is an estimate of the tax portion alone.
What if I do not know my exact monthly fuel volume?
An approximate number is fine. The input accepts 0 to 2,000 liters and starts at 50 liters. The math is a simple multiplication of volume by the per-liter cut, so doubling the volume doubles the saving.
Does this calculator tell me whether I qualify for support or a refund?
No, it does not. The tool only estimates the size of the saving based on fuel volume; it makes no eligibility determination for any individual. Check the scope and period of the measure through official channels such as Policy Briefing.
What this tool does not do
This calculator does not determine eligibility. It will not tell you whether you qualify for any support or refund, and it does not forecast pump prices or future oil prices. The only inputs to the math are two per-liter cut amounts — ₩122 for gasoline and ₩145 for diesel — and the volume you enter; other energy-related support programs (such as the energy voucher) are not included. The amounts shown are reference estimates, so confirm the period and content of the measure through official channels such as Policy Briefing. Once the end date of September 30, 2026 passes, the countdown at the top changes to "Cut period ended."
